Who Eats Better Dogs Or Humans?
Someone anonymously asked for a pic of Kirbey. Well as luck would have it, Kirbey was to be my next subject to blog about. We had just come home from doing a little shopping and buying Mungo a treat. I gave him one of the treats and left the open package on the table next to where Kirbey was sitting. During the time when we were bringing in the rest of the groceries, Kirbey had decided that the dog treats looked rather inviting. She managed to chew one down and was on the second before we noticed. I had a little panic until I read the ingredients and realized the dog snacks were heathier than most things humans snack on. So after a little panic we had a great laugh on Kirbeys behalf. Sorry there have not been a lot of pics of Kirbey but it is really hard to get a decent picture of her and I want to honour her and only put pictures that are flattering. Even at Christmas I could not get a good one after trying many times.

This reminds me of that time I dropped oreos on your kitchen floor and they got all smashed up and I turned around and Big Kirbs was scarfing down on the dirty crumbs. I laughed. Then she laughed. Then we sang "On top of spaghetti" for a few hours. ahh the memories!

Hi Denise and Gary
When I first met Darwin he helped me move from one of my apartments. Well, I was at work and he was doing some of the packing for me. He found some "beef jerky" on the top of the fridge. He proceeded to eat it all up. When I got home he said to me, don't buy that type of jerky again it tastes ok but is a little dry. hahahah It was dog treats! Even after almost 25 years I STILL bug him about that! Tell Kirby she isn't alone on this one.

Also, when our Ashley was a little girl she kept breaking out in a rash. We didn't know what it was. We tried changing food, laundry soap, you know..the TYPICAL things. Well... one day I came around the corner in the kitchen and found her eating the cats food. When I cleaned out her mouth I put the dish up on a ledge in the laundry room so she couldn't getin again. You guessed it, the rash disappeared!!! So I guess I should have put on her medical records "allergic to cat food" hahaha (sorry Ashley had to share)

Hugs to you all. Kirby, we never had the chance to get to know each other while you were in Canada, but we have something funny in common now, so that makes us friend :)

Tons of prayers your way

Jackie and Darwin

That's my sister! Just so you know folks, she won't eat just anything. I put a piece of crayon on her plate once. She picked it up, almost put it in her mouth, took a look at it and put it back on her plate. She knows what's what.
(by the way...big sisters are allowed to be unusually cruel to their younger siblings, right?)

I would think that any GOOD parents would look into programs and care for a disabled child BEFORE they uproot the family and move to another country. How sad for Kirbey to have spent so many months in the house staring at 4 walls. Perhaps next time you will put your family first instead of god!

Hi this is Gary Swabey. I last comment really hurts. Just to clear the record. I did check about care and support for Kirbey before moving to Ireland. I was told the programs and care for Kirbey would be comparable to Canada. We arrived and starting into the goverment red tap and were told the same thing. We were told it will take a few months but Kirbey will have a number of options available to her. It is a long disappointing story but this is just not true. We now understand better the Irish culture, what you are told may not really be true. Again long frustrating story.
Kirbey has not been stuck for months just staring at 4 walls. We take Kirbey out with us wherever we go. We take Kirbey swimming for exercise. We try to put as much variety and blessing into Kirbey's life as possible. Our plan was to stay in Ireland long term and because this is not good for Kirbey we are coming back to Canada. I am sorry things have not fallen into place for Kirbey and us as I believed they would. A number of things besides care for Kirbey have not been as we were told before we came. I feel very bad about the whole deal and am doing all I can to make it right. Please do not make big judgments without all the facts. I will be back in the Okanagan Feb.6 to 21 so maybe whoever you are we can have a talk and I can give you alot more of the facts. Gary S.

We will feed him Denise. I am praying for you and the girls there and look forward to seeing you home in the summer.
Thanks for being soooo obedient and taking a risk and travelling over there, thinking all would be well. Maybe you have already accomplished what God wanted from your family and just for him to know that if he called, you WOULD go.
See you soon.
Con T.
